You may need to install the drivers for your wireless card or hardware. Check your wireless card manufacturer's website to see about downloading its latest driver. If you do have that installed, try this: 1) Click on the "Start" button. 2) Select "Control Panel". 3) Select "Network and Internet Connections". 4) Select "Network Connections". 5) Right click on "Local Area Connection" and select "Properties" from the popup menu. 6) Right click "Wireless Network Connection" again and select "View Available Wireless Networks" from the popup menu.

I don't have my 2000 anymore, so this is just speculation... Under Control Panel, under Network Connections, can you click Wireless Connections and get a list? If not that, then, perhaps it may be worth your while to search either www.microsoft.com or your computer manufacturer's website (like, say, in my case, support.hp.com) or the wireless chipset website to see whether there isn't a way to download and/or start up a query mechanism. (Of course, if it's already installed, set up a shortcut!!!) Good luck!
