Justagirl asked:

Gift card returns

Saturday, February 24, 2007

I received a gift card because I returned a gift that I didn't have a receipt for. Normally I would just spend it in that store, but even their smallest size is too big. If I make a purchase and ask for a gift receipt, would I be able to return the items the next day to get a cash refund?

When I've used a store gift/credit card, and bought a different item using the gift card, my experience has been that the receipt shows that I didn't pay cash but used a "store credit or gift" card. And they would just reissue another gift card. One thing you might consider is selling your store gift card on ebay. You won't get exactly what it's worth, but I've done it before and say I had a card worth $25.00, I got about $23.50 for the card. So you'll be out a couple of dollars for listing on ebay but at least you'd get something for it. Good Luck.

Sounds logical to me but if you get the same clerk, they may think you are trying to do something fraudlant.
