Chocolate Chip Cookies
½ C. sugar
2/3 C. brown sugar
2/3 C. butter
2 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. soda
1 egg
1 C. chocolate chips
2 C. flour (approximate, depending upon your flour, see below)
I can not stress enough that this recipe has so much more to do with technique than it does exact ingredient amounts...
Cream together the sugar, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, salt and soda. Add the egg and cream together more, the dough will become a lighter color and increase in volume. Add the chocolate chips. Add just enough flour to make the dough very soft but not sticky. Roll the dough into balls smaller than a golf ball and flatten slightly. Bake in a 350 degree oven until the tops have cracked. Remove the cookies as/before they turn golden. These are chewy/soft.
