Can't install a program on Windows Vista

Monday, February 19, 2007

I have a program (Adobe Premiere 1.5) that will not install on Windows Vista, but will install on Windows XP. I get an error message saying, "This operating system is not supported". Anyone have a solution for this?

1) Copy the entire install CD onto your hard drive. 2) Find the ".exe" file that runs the install (usually setup.exe) 3) Right click that ".exe" file and click "Properties". 4) Click the "Compatibilty" tab and check the box that says "run this program in compatibility for" and select "Windows XP". Click "OK" 5) Then run that setup file. Windows Vista will then run the install program as if Vista were Windows XP. Steps 1-5 should work for most applications. Step 6 is specifically for Adobe Premiere 1.5 6) You may need to remove some "Plugins" in order for the install to work on Vista. Open Windows Explorer, and search in the installation directory (i.e C:\Program Files\Adobe\Premiere Pro 1.5) and search for anything with a .AEX extension. Copy those files out to your Desktop temporarily. Try running the program and it should run just fine.
