I want a sugar cookie recipe that's not too hard or so soft that it's doughy...just right!

Also, you might like these...
SNICKERDOODLES
½ C. butter
½ C. shortening
1 ½ C. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. cream of tarter
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
2 ¾ C. flour
Form dough into balls smaller than a golf ball and roll into cinnamon/sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes. You'll want to pull them out of the oven after the tops have sufficiently cracked, and as/before they turn golden. These are chewy/soft.

Sour Cream Sugar Cookies
¼ C. shortening
¼ C. butter
1 C. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 C. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. nutmeg
½ C. sour cream
Mix ingredients and place dough into the refrigerator or freezer until somewhat firm. Roll out dough on a floured surface and cut into fun shapes. Place cookies on a greased baking sheet and bake in a 425 degree oven for 8-10 minutes. (Remove cookies before they brown.) These are soft and really great with a cream cheese frosting.
